Get ready for the new “Hinting” Feature on FamilySearch!
Coming soon to FamilySearch is a brand new feature called ‘hinting’. This new technology will automatically search for records matching people in your family tree. In future, when you go to an ancestor’s page, FamilySearch will show what has been found just for that specific person, from the vast collections of records.
If you currently find that the process of searching through the long list of results from a search is both time-consuming and tedious, be assured, this new feature is going to make your Family History work a whole lot easier.
Although the feature is not yet available (but coming soon), there’s a few things that we can do to prepare:
- “Register and login. Make sure that your username and password work.
- Check your data. The better your ancestors’ data is, the better FamilySearch will be able to match records and provide you with good hints. Check names, dates, places, relationships, and so forth.
- Add any new data to your tree as you find it. The more data you have on your ancestors, the better will be the likelihood of a quality hint. So, if your tree looks a little bare, add what you know, and fill in as much as you can. It will definitely help.”
